Joy in His Presence: A Lesson from the Seventy (6th July 2025 Sermon)

Lord Jesus appointed seventy people and sent them out on a mission to proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God. When they returned, they spoke to Jesus about the success of their work. However, Jesus advised them not to take pride in their accomplishments, but rather to rejoice that their names were recorded in the presence of God. Similarly, Anglican missionaries who came to Sri Lanka dedicated their time and committed themselves to establishing the Anglican Church in Sri Lanka, now known as the Church of Ceylon. As Anglicans in the present context, we must carefully discern the best and healthiest methods for propagating the Gospel through both words and deeds.
