Biblical Giving: The Principle of the Harvest Offering (3rd August 2025 Sermon)

Offering the harvest at the Temple is a Biblical requirement according to Jewish tradition. The Jews lived in an agricultural context, and the practice of offering the harvest was well understood by the people. But what about those who lived in cities, where they did not have fields or paddy to harvest crops? What could they offer to God as a thanksgiving? In such cases, tithes out of their income needed to be offered to God as their offering.
