Today is the last Sunday of Advent, on which we reflect on Mother Mary’s life and her contribution to the birth of the Lord Jesus. We find three main qualities in Mother Mary’s life, and it is good for us to adopt and develop them in our lives as well: obedience, humility, and a strong faith.
Firstly, when the Angel Gabriel gave her the message, though she was puzzled, she ultimately obeyed the call of God. Secondly, she was humble enough to say, “I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me as you have said.” Thirdly, she was very strong in her belief that God’s word would be fulfilled in and through her life. So she bore the Christ Child within her, she introduced Christ to the world, and she gave Christ for the salvation of all.
Like Mother Mary, we too have to bear Christ our Lord within us and share Christ with the people and contexts where His presence is needed during this time of Christmas.
